The Audio installation at Catch LA had many challenges. Amongst these challenges the one standout was that we were dealing with a 10,000-square foot open air outdoor space. Anthem who works very closely with ownership of course had all their requirements at the forefront. They insist on audiophile sound quality that has the ability to play at very high levels without a drop of ear fatigue after hours of listening. Dealing with an outdoor space all its many challenges came into view. We wanted to ensure that not only did the sound system perform in all aspects but that the sound remained on the dance floor and not travel outside its perimeter. Physics at this point came into the fold. Of course the speakers had to be environmentally resistant for several years of use. K-array KK102s full range loudspeakers and K-array KMT12 Subwoofers were the answer. The full range line array section was extremely slim in size and had the inconceivable ability to cover and control the audio with remarkable accuracy. We were able to cut off the audio level outside dance floor with marksman like precision. The speakers were orientated to place the audio exactly where we wanted it and exactly where we didn’t.
We achieved an extremely wide horizontal coverage and a very narrow vertical coverage. The performance of the KK102 compared to its size was not believable. The 12″ subwoofer section did its part be filling in the low frequency creating warmth and depth throughout the space and again controlling it within given boundaries. In all an amazing result for very happy clients.
